Common questions

Skipper does not find my Apple TV
  1. Make sure your iPhone and Apple TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. A guest network often blocks devices from seeing each other.
  2. Turn on Local Network access: open Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network and turn on Skipper.
  3. Wake the Apple TV with its remote, then open Skipper again.
  4. If you use a VPN on your iPhone, turn it off and try again.
The TV does not show a PIN

Wake the Apple TV with its remote, then tap the TV in Skipper again. If the PIN goes away before you type it, tap Cancel and start again.

A skip does nothing

Make sure a video is playing on the TV, then tap again. If it still does nothing, open the … menu and choose Choose another TV to connect again.

How do I make or change a button?

Open the … menu and choose Edit presets. Pick an app or add a new one, then give each button a name and a number of seconds. Use a negative number to go back.

How do I use Skipper with a different Apple TV?

Open the … menu and choose Choose another TV. To remove the pairing for the current TV, choose Forget this TV.

Does Skipper work away from home?

No. Skipper talks to your Apple TV over your home network only. It has no server, so it cannot reach your TV from outside your home.

Which devices does Skipper work with?

An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and an Apple TV on the same network.
